Chris’s accomplishments include the development of 21 East Front Street, 55 Broad Street, 20 Broad Street, and 7 Broad Street in Red Bank, New Jersey. He also managed the complete re-development of an 80,000 sq. ft. shopping center, Brook 35 Plaza, in Sea Girt, NJ. Across from Brook 35 Plaza, Chris directed the development from the ground up of Brook 35 West. Chris recently completed development of a sister property to The Grove at Shrewsbury, The Grove West. In New Jersey, the company is currently working on redeveloping a large mixed-use multi-family project and a 50,000 sq. ft. office building. Both projects are in the West Side Arts District of Red Bank, NJ. Chris is also collaborating on the repositioning of a 140,000 sq. ft. shopping center in Wall, NJ. In California, Chris is working on the redevelopment of 5 Points Plaza in Huntington Beach, a well-positioned lifestyle center. In Washington State, he is managing the redevelopment of several key downtown blocks in Bremerton and the redevelopment efforts at Crossroads, a 40-acre site in Bellevue, WA. Mark has acquired or developed over $100 million of properties in the last decade, serving as managing partner of partnerships in San Francisco and Oakland. These developments have included the full rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of older buildings; redesign, seismic retrofit, base building and tenant improvement construction; and new residential construction. Merritt has been a board member and early stage investor for several national retail companies, and has served as a real estate consultant for such retailers as The Gap, where he arranged the firm's acquisition of Banana Republic. In 1989, Merritt formed Terranomics Retail Services which became one of the nation's largest retail real estate brokerages specializing in tenant representation, project leasing and institutional property management. Terranomics represented several million square feet of retail space and many of the nation's leading retailers. In 1997, Federal Realty Investment Trust acquired Terranomics Retail Services. Most recently, Merritt developed Hotel Healdsburg, a 55-room luxury hotel in the North Sonoma Wine Country of California. Ron was a founder of Terranomics International Investors, the predecessor of Metrovation Capital, where he serves as a principal. He is a founder of Islander’s Bank, a commercial bank headquartered in Friday Harbor, WA. Ron was responsible for the redevelopment and expansion of Crossroads Shopping Center in Bellevue, WA, a 550,000 square foot center which has become the thriving town center of east Bellevue. Crossroads was the subject of a case study by the International Council of Shopping Centers. Ron also founded and is Chief Executive Officer of The Third Place Company, which creates community gathering places anchored by a new and used book store, restaurants and entertainment. Ron received his Ph.D. from Washington State University, an M.B.A. from Columbia
Previously, he was the senior investment officer of a Boston-based investment advisory firm which represented offshore institutional clients. His expertise is in high-leverage structured lending and he has closed investments in retail, office, multifamily, hotel, and industrial properties nationwide.
